Mumbai, November 03, 2025 – In a significant development in the ongoing controversy surrounding the death of Rohit Arya, prominent advocate Nitin Satpute has officially filed a Criminal Writ Petition (CR WP Stamp No. 21856/2025) at the Bombay High Court. The petition accuses senior police officials of orchestrating a fake encounter in what has been dubbed the Rohit Arya murder case.

Explosive update: Lawyer Satpute exposes ‘sharp shooter’ API Waghmare & top officers in staged killing of Rohit Arya. High Court battle begins.

The petition names Zone 9 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Datta Nalawade, Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Sonawane, Assistant Police Inspector (API) Amol Waghmare—referred to as a “sharp shooter” in the filing—and other responsible officers. Satpute alleges that these officials were involved in a staged encounter that led to Arya’s death, masking it as a legitimate police action.

According to the details in the petition, the incident stems from an encounter operation where Arya was reportedly killed under suspicious circumstances. Satpute’s legal action seeks the immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused officers for their alleged roles in the fake encounter. Furthermore, the petition demands that the investigation be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure an impartial probe, citing potential biases within the local police force.

“Rohit Arya’s death raises serious questions about police accountability and the misuse of power,” Satpute stated in a press release following the filing. “This petition is a step towards uncovering the truth and holding those responsible accountable. We cannot allow fake encounters to undermine justice in our society.”

The case has sparked widespread debate on social media and among legal experts, with calls for transparency in police operations. Sources close to the matter indicate that the petition highlights discrepancies in the official police narrative, including eyewitness accounts and forensic evidence that allegedly contradict the encounter story.

The Bombay High Court is expected to hear the matter in the coming weeks. If granted, the transfer to CBI could mark a turning point in high-profile encounter cases in Maharashtra.

TIN24 will continue to monitor this case for further updates.
