Mumbai, November 2:
Human rights lawyer Advocate Nitin Satpute- Petitioner has lodged an official complaint with the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, demanding immediate suo-moto cognizance into the alleged fake encounter of Rohit Arya (Arolikar). The complaint raises serious questions about the police’s use of force, asking why the victim was shot in the chest instead of being subdued with a non-fatal leg shot.
Advocate Satpute has alleged that the incident amounts to a deliberate and unlawful killing, and therefore warrants registration of a murder case against senior police officers allegedly involved in the encounter.
The officers named in the complaint include DCP Datta Nalawade, API Amol Waghmare (alleged sharp shooter), and Sr. PI Jitendra Sitaram Sonawane. In his communication to the Chief Justice, Satpute has called for an independent probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure transparency and prevent any attempt by state police to shield the accused officers.
He has further stated that if the Bombay High Court fails to take suo-moto cognizance by Monday, he will file a formal writ petition to seek judicial intervention and registration of offences under (murder) case .
According to Advocate Satpute- Petitioner , public faith in the justice system demands swift judicial oversight in such grave matters of constitutional and human rights violations.
