NEW DELHI, September 7, 2025 – In a major relief for car buyers, Hyundai Motor India announced on Sunday a significant price reduction across its entire model lineup, slashing prices by up to Rs 2.4 lakh to pass on the benefits of the recent GST rate cut. Close on its heels, Tata Motors has followed suit by reducing prices on its commercial vehicle (CV) range by as much as Rs 4.65 lakh, signaling a broader push in the automotive sector to make vehicles more affordable in the wake of the tax reforms.
The price adjustments from both automakers are set to take effect from September 22, 2025, aligning with the implementation of the revised GST rates. This move comes at a time when the Indian auto industry is gearing up for festive season sales, potentially boosting consumer demand and vehicle accessibility.
Hyundai Leads the Charge: Up to Rs 2.4 Lakh Off on Popular Models
Hyundai Motor India emphasized that the price cuts are a direct response to the GST reforms, aimed at empowering customers with more affordable personal mobility options. The reductions vary by model, starting from Rs 60,640 on the sedan Verna and going up to a substantial Rs 2.4 lakh on the premium SUV Tucson. Other popular models like the Creta and Alcazar are also seeing notable benefits, with the Creta getting cheaper by up to Rs 72,145.
“This reform is not only a boost to the automotive industry but also a strong step towards empowering millions of customers by making personal mobility more affordable and accessible,” said Unsoo Kim, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor India.
The announcement has been welcomed by industry experts, who see it as a strategic move to stimulate sales in a competitive market. With Hyundai’s diverse portfolio including sedans, SUVs, and electric vehicles, these cuts are expected to make models like the Venue, i20, and Grand i10 Nios even more appealing to budget-conscious buyers.
Tata Motors Joins In: Commercial Vehicles Get Major Price Relief
Not to be outdone, Tata Motors has announced price reductions on its commercial vehicle lineup, ranging from Rs 30,000 to a maximum of Rs 4.65 lakh. This applies to a wide array of trucks, buses, and other CVs, helping fleet operators and logistics businesses cut down on operational costs.
The Mumbai-based auto giant stated that these adjustments are in line with passing on the full GST reduction benefits to customers, effective September 22. While Tata has also hinted at potential price drops on passenger vehicles like the Nexon (up to Rs 1.55 lakh) and Safari (up to Rs 1.45 lakh), the headline-grabbing cuts are focused on the CV segment, which is crucial for India’s growing infrastructure and e-commerce sectors.
